Certifying Food Service Managers since 2005
The PA Department of Agriculture Food Employee Certification Act, effective January 22, 2011, requires one employee per licensed food facility to obtain a nationally recognized food manager certification. The Certified Manager must be on site during all hours of operation, which means you need more than one certified manager to cover all shifts or an absence or vacation. This should be the "person in charge".
Food Safety Managers must pass the national exam and renew their state certification every five years. If a food safety manager certification is expired for more than six months, you must retake the 8-hour course and pass the exam before you can be recertified. If you have been currently certified a refresher course is available with certification testing. Updates to NRA ServSafe Management will be included with this refresher. Training can be completed in person or Live through ZOOM.
